Leaflets - What are They Anyway?
The words flyers, leaflets, and pamphlets are largely interchangeable in the contect of printing. Each has a different connotation though. A flyer is usually a single sheet, a leaflet is often a folded sheet, and a pamphlet may be a multi-folded sheet, or small booklet, perhaps with simple staple binding. They all refer to a cover-less, unbound booklet, or else a single sheet. Usually printed both sides, but single sheets can just be printed to one side. Leaflets are often folded in half, thirds, or fourths.
Many different sizes are now available. A4 - the usual size for most printers and letters in the UK, a5, which is half a4 size, and a6, which is a quarter of a4 size. These are all popular sizes, but you will find others too in our shop. There are many folding options too - zig-zag fold, gate fold, etc. There's also a range of different weights of paper/card that we print on: 135gsm gloss paper, 170gsm matt coated paper, 250gsm gloss, and the ultimate 300gsm matt coated paper with dispersion varnish.
Why Print Leaflets Anyway?
Leaflets and flyers are cheap to print. They look great and are very effective in getting a marketing message across. They can be a mini brochure, and can cost less than a penny each. Compare this to sending a letter, which can cost 40 times the price or more, including postage.
Leaflets and flyers have become very popular since the advent of cheap desktop publishing software. They can easily be produced by someone familiar with this kind of software, but for best results ask someone who is good at design, and make sure they know our specifications.
